Three Suspects Arrested and Arraigned on Drug Charges

Newark - Three alleged drug dealers were arraigned today following their arrests yesterday by Essex County sheriff's detectives. Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that in response to numerous complaints of drug trafficking from North Ward residents his department's Bureau of Narcotics conducted two plainclothes surveillance operations yesterday on Grafton Avenue and at Bright Court. Sheriff Fontoura said the first surveillance operation was initiated shortly before noon and his BON detectives observed three unidentified males loitering on bicycles outside a bodega at 31 Grafton Avenue.

Two Drug Arrests in Newark

Newark - Two male suspects, arrested yesterday by Essex County sheriff's officers during separate undercover operations, were arraigned this morning on multiple drug charges. Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that detectives from his department's Bureau of Narcotics conducted plainclothes surveillance at two known drug trafficking areas in the city on Wednesday afternoon. Sheriff Fontoura said that at 1:00 p.m. the BON detectives observed a male, later identified as Yasim Perry, age 21, sitting on a milk crate near the intersection of Chapel Street and Riverview Court in the city's East Ward.

Reward Increased in Newark Homicide Case

Newark - Law enforcement seeks the public's help in finding a man wanted for questioning in a fatal shooting which occurred in Newark more than one and one-half years ago. Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that his department's Crimestoppers program has increased its cash reward which now stands at up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest of the person who shot and killed Bruce Santos, 26, in the area of Broad and Camp Streets on February 26, 2013.

Reward Offered In East Orange Murder

East Orange - Law enforcement authorities today announced a cash reward offer for information that leads to an arrest in the shooting death of Edwin Gibson. Sheriff Armando Fontoura said that his department's Crimestoppers program would pay up to $10,000 for details surrounding the crime.

Suspect Arrested & Arraigned on Multiple Drug Charges

Newark – An alleged narcotics distributor was arraigned this morning on multiple drug charges following his arrest on Tuesday by Essex County sheriff’s detectives. Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that officers from his department’s Bureau on Narcotics conducted a plainclothes surveillance operation at 36 – 38 Martin Luther King Boulevard prior to executing a search warrant for the first floor apartment at that location. Sheriff Fontoura said that the BON detectives observed the target of their investigation, Mayor Donaldson, age 52, in conversation with a male passerby in front of his residence. Donaldson then entered his apartment, returned and exchanged items with the passerby, later identified as Alvin Clay, age 50, also of Newark, for cash.
