Sheriff's Detectives & Feds Make Gun, Drugs Arrest

Newark – A city woman was arraigned today on multiple weapons and drug charges following her arrest yesterday afternoon by Essex County sheriff’s detectives and federal law enforcement officers.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that detectives from his department’s Bureau of Narcotics and federal agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration executed a search warrant, issued by Superior Court Judge Peter J. Vasquez, for apartment 36 at 333 Park Avenue in Newark’s north ward.

Stolen Cars, Motorcycle Recovered

NewarkEssex County sheriff’s officers late yesterday afternoon recovered three stolen cars and a stolen motorcycle at adjoining locations in the city’s South Ward while on routine quality of life patrol.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that officers Michael Kihlberg and Chris Bozios were on patrol on Ridgewood Avenue when their marked unit’s receiver picked up multiple electronic stolen vehicle alerts.

Alleged Gang Member Arrested; 2 Handguns Recovered

Newark – An alleged Bloods street gang member was arrested late yesterday afternoon by Essex County sheriff’s detectives and weapons charges were filed against him.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that officers from his department’s Bureau on Narcotics were conducting plainclothes operations in the city’s North Ward on Tuesday when they spotted a 17-year-old Bronx male walking along North 6th Street.

The suspect stopped in front of 386 North 6th Street and the BON detectives observed as he removed two handguns from his jacket pockets and hid them in bushes.

2 Arrested: Drugs, Weapon Seized

Newark – A male suspect was arraigned today on drug charges following his arrest on Friday by Essex County sheriff’s detectives. And, following a second arrest, an East Orange man was arraigned on weapons and assault charges.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated as part of an on-going investigation into drug trafficking in the city’s South Ward officers from his department’s Bureau of Narcotics executed a search warrant on Friday afternoon for an apartment at 116 Chadwick Avenue. The apartment’s occupant, Khalil Brown, age 32, was the target of the investigation.

August 13, 2012 - Newark, NJ) –– Public Service Electric and Gas Co. (PSE&G) is recommending that its gas heating customers test their heating systems now, before the chilly weather arrives.  If there’s a problem, PSE&G will come out to start the unit -- at no charge -- through September 9, 2012.

“Chilly weather will be here soon, and one of the best things our gas heating customers can do now is to check their system to ensure safe and efficient operation before the colder weather arrives,” said Joe Bassolino, PSE&G’s manager of business development. “By testing their heating systems early, customers will be prepared for the upcoming cold weather. In addition, PSE&G will be able to respond more quickly at this time of the season if there is a problem.”
