Reward Offered in Murder of Orange Teen

Orange – Sheriff Armando Fontoura today announced a cash reward offer for information that leads to an arrest in the murder of an Orange teenager last year.

Sheriff Fontoura said the Crimestoppers program will pay up to $5,000 for details surrounding the shooting death of Tyrell Coleman, age 18.

Newark Suspect Arrested; Gun & Drugs Seized

Newark – In an operation conducted this afternoon by the Essex County Sheriff’s Tactical Response Team, the Bureau of Narcotics and Detective Bureau, an alleged drug dealer was arrested and a weapon and narcotics were seized.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that prior to executing a search warrant for the 2nd floor apartment at 175 South 11th Street, the subject of an on-going investigation, Jahad Lee, age 28, was arrested outside his residence.

Reward Offer in Newark Hit & Run Fatality

Newark – Sheriff Armando Fontoura today announced a cash reward offer for information about a suspect wanted for the hit and run murder of a Newark resident on November 7, 2010.

Rashad Mimy, age 26, was struck by a vehicle while walking south on Routes 1 & 9, near Haynes Avenue in Newark. The crime occurred shortly after midnight.

Suspect with Guns, Drugs, Cash Arrested & Arraigned

Newark – A city man was arraigned today on multiple weapons and drug charges following his arrest last night by Essex County sheriff’s detectives.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that detectives from his department’s Bureau of Narcotics, armed with a search warrant for the second floor apartment at 19 Vermont Avenue, staked out that location at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

Upon securing the perimeter of the building, the target of the investigation, Andre Green, age 39, exited his residence, got into a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix and drove to a gas station at South Orange and Stuyvesant Avenues. The BON detectives surrounded the suspect vehicle and Green was transported back to his residence.

Reward Posted in Shooting/Robbery of Verizon Worker

Irvington – Sheriff Armando Fontoura today stated that through the Essex County Crimestoppers program Verizon is offering a cash reward up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the shooting and armed robbery of one of their employees.

Sheriff Fontorua said that the victim, Rasheed Deans, age 33, was repairing a utility pole on Montrose Avenue at 9:50 a.m. on Monday when he was approached by a male teen who was wearing a black face mask, light-colored jeans and a white hooded sweatshirt.
