Newark – A city man, one of two drug suspects arrested yesterday by EssexCounty sheriff’s officers, was arraigned today in central Criminal Processing court.
Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that officers from his department’s Patrol Division were conducting quality of life operations at Clinton Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, a known high drug trafficking area, late on Monday morning.
At that time, the sheriff’s officers observed a 2012 Honda Accord with three occupants who were not wearing seatbelts, traveling north on King Blvd.The Honda then improperly passed another vehicle and turned on a red light without stopping.
Newark – A Bloomingdale woman was arraigned today on drug charges following her arrest on Friday by EssexCounty sheriff’s officers.
Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that Officers Dennis Kihlberg and George Sona were on quality of life patrol near West Market and Norfolk streets Friday afternoon when they observed a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am with an inoperable brake light in which the occupants were not wearing seat belts.
A motor vehicle stop was conducted and the officers then observed, Chelsea Kasperowicz, age 20, in the front passenger seat secrete a clear plastic bag containing a green vegetative substance inside the collar of her shirt.
Suspect Crashes Stolen Van and Is Arrested & Arraigned

Newark – An Irvington man who crashed a stolen van on Saturday night was arraigned today in central Judicial Processing Court.
Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that Officer Jimmy Rodriguez and Evan Harlow were on patrol in the area Myrtle Avenue and West Grove Terrace when they spotted the driver of a green 1995 Mercury van who was not wearing a seatbelt.
Irvington Man Arrested & Arraigned on Gun and Drug Charges

Newark – An Irvington man was arraigned today on drug and weapons charges following his arrest last Thursday by EssexCounty sheriff’s detectives.
Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that officers from his department’s Bureau of Narcotics executed a search warrant, issued by Superior Court Judge Michael Petrolle, for the first floor apartment at 152 19th Avenue in Irvington.
Sheriff Fontoura said the BON detectives arrived at the residence at and found the front door the house open.Entering the building, the sheriff’s officers also found the apartment door open.Just inside the door was a pitbull which charged at the BON detectives.The animal’s aggressive behavior was neutralized by several bursts of pepper spray.
Newark – One of six pitbulls, guarding a known drug house, was shot and killed yesterday and four suspects were arraigned today, following their arrest by EssexCounty sheriff’s detectives on drug charges.
Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that officers from his department’s Tactical Response Team (TRT) and Bureau of Narcotics (BON) executed a search warrant, issued by Superior Court Judge Peter V. Ryan, yesterday afternoon for a single family residence, located at 254 Weequahic Avenue.
