Reward for Information in East Orange Hit & Run Fatality

East Orange – Sheriff Armando Fontoura today announced a cash reward offer up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the June 11, 2011 hit-and-run fatality in East Orange.

Sheriff Fontoura said the reward would be paid by the Crimestoppers program.

The victim, a 39-year-old female, was struck and killed on Freeway Drive East and South Walnut Street. The incident occurred at 11:30 p.m.

Newark – Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura announced today that the Crimestoppers program will pay a cash reward up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest of the person or persons wanted for the shooting death of Aziz Stewart.

Stewart was murdered in the 100 block of Sheerer Avenue at approximately 10:00 p.m. on Monday.

Anyone with information about the crime is urged to contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force tips line at 1-877-847-7432.

Cash Reward Offered for Suspects Wanted for Armed Robbery

BloomfieldEssex County law enforcement authorities today announced a cash reward offer for information that leads to the arrest of suspects wanted for a series of armed robberies at gas stations throughout Bloomfield and other communities.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that the Crimestoppers program will pay up to $2,000 for details that lead to the apprehension of the suspects.

Suspect Arrested; Assault Rifle, "Bear" Gun & Drugs Seized

NewarkEssex County sheriff’s officers today seized drugs and two weapons, an extremely powerful handgun and a high performance automatic rifle, while arresting a Newark man at his residence.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that sheriff’s detectives arrived at 39 Oxford Street at noon to serve a non-support warrant on Kenneth Jackson, age 49, who resides in apartment 4A.

One of Jackson’s roommates, Quadir McLean answered the officers’ knock and let them into the apartment. Upon entering, the detectives noticed the small burnt ends of marijuana cigarettes in an ashtray.

Newark & Irvington Suspects Arrested on Gun and Drug Charges

Newark – Two suspects were arraigned today on weapons and drug charges following their arrest by Essex County sheriff’s officers.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that detectives from his department’s Bureau of Narcotics arrived at 21 Stuyvesant Avenue on Tuesday morning as part of an on-going drug investigation. The BON detectives had been monitoring activity at a vacant first floor apartment.
