School Bus Driver Arrested for DWI

Bloomfield – A private school bus driver was arrested this afternoon while on her way to pick up developmentally disabled children at a Montclair school and was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that sheriff’s detectives observed a Hudson County Transport school bus run a red light at Bloomfield Avenue and Municipal Plaza in Bloomfield at 2:45 p.m. today and almost strike another vehicle.

West Orange – Sheriff Armando Fontoura today announced a cash reward offer for information that leads to the arrest of the suspects wanted in the shooting death of a West Orange liquor store clerk at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2011.

Sheriff's Officer Hits Stolen Vehicle Jackpot

Newark – When an Essex County sheriff’s officer got a hit on his anti-car theft device while on patrol last night little did he know that modern police technology would lead him to a jackpot of five high-priced stolen cars and a stolen car carrier rig.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura said that Officer Guiseppe Forgione was on routine patrol at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday at Weequahic Park when his car theft alarm activated. The signal was emitted by a 2004 Lincoln Navigator.

Motor Vehicle Stop Yields Drugs and Stun Gun

NewarkEssex County sheriff’s officers arrested a suspect on drug and weapons charges this evening after they observed his vehicle make an illegal turn into Branch Brook Park.

Sheriff Fontoura said the officer were on routine patrol on Heller Parkway when they saw a 2002 Volkswagen van, driven by 34-year-old Robinson Almonte of Newark, illegally pass another vehicle and make an illegal turn into the park.

Reward Offered in Murder of Orange Teen

Orange – Sheriff Armando Fontoura today announced a cash reward offer for information that leads to an arrest in the murder of an Orange teenager last year.

Sheriff Fontoura said the Crimestoppers program will pay up to $5,000 for details surrounding the shooting death of Tyrell Coleman, age 18.
