Cooling Centers Opened

Due to the extreme heat, Sheriff Fontoura, Coordinator of the Essex County Office of Emergency Management, advised local residents that the following cooling centers are now open:

Glen Ridge-

Glen Ridge Public Library 240 Ridgewood Avenue M, W 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm

T,Th, F, Sat 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Belleville-

Senior Citizens Center Franklin Ave/Mill St 8:00 am- 9:00 pm

Bloomfield-

Bloomfield Civic Center 84 Broad Street M-W 8:30 am to 8:30 pm

Th-F 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

 

Livingston-

Livingston Public Library 10 Robert Harp Drive M-Th, 10:00 am to 9:00 pm

Friday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

Livingston Community Center 204 Hillside Ave 8:30 to 4:30 pm

Livingston Twp Hall 112 Eisenhower Parkway 9:00 am to 10:00 pm

Livingston Mall 112 Eisenhower Parkway 9:00 am to 10:00 pm

Maplewood-

De Hart Community Center on Burnett Ave 12:00 pm to 4:30 pm

 

The Memorial Library on Baker Street 10:00 am to 5:00 pm

Nutley-

Information about the opening of other municipal cooling centens will be announced as soon as that information is reported by local authorities to the Essex County Office of Emergency Management.

 

 
Robbery Suspects Arrested

Newark – Within minutes of a robbery last evening at Riverbank Park, three male juvenile suspects were placed under arrest by Essex County sheriff’s officers and the proceeds of the robbery were recovered.

West Orange Cooling Centers Open

Sheriff Fontoura today advised township resdients that the following Cooling Centers are open in West Orange:

Township Hall, 66 Main Street

Mon-Wed 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.

 

West Orange Public Library, 46 Mt. Pleasant Avenue

Mon 10 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Tues 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Wed 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

 

 

 
Reward Offered in Millburn Home Invasion

Millburn – Law enforcement authorities today posted a cash reward for information that leads to the arrest of a suspect wanted in a brutal home invasion in Millburn.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura said the incident took place at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Friday (6/21/13) when the suspect broke into a Cypress Street home and violently attacked the female homeowner in front of her 3-year-old daughter.

Reward Offer in Assault Turned Deadly

Irvington – Law enforcement authorities today posted a cash reward offer for information that leads to the arrest of a suspect or suspects who assaulted a 70-year-old Roselle Park man who later died of his injuries.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura said that Robert Sabio died from blunt-force trauma following an assault by the driver and/or passengers of a vehicle that the victim’s car had bumped into at 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 on the 1300 block of Springfield Avenue in Irvington.
