Blizzard 2015: Warming Centers Open

Newark – Sheriff Armando Fontoura, coordinator of the Essex County Office of Emergency Management, tonight advises local residents that due to the impending severe blizzard conditions the “Code Blue” initiative has been put into effect. “Code Blue” will provide Essex County with warming centers for residents who have lost electrical power and persons who have been identified as homeless and without shelter. Superior Court Closing; Foreclosure Sales Postponed

Newark – Due to the anticipated blizzard, Sheriff Armando Fontoura today advised that the Essex County Superior Court Vicinage and the Probation Division will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27, 2015. Those seeking further information about the Essex County Superior Court should contact the Office of the Court Administrator at 973-693-5701. Probation Division litigants should contact 973-693-5700 for further information. Sheriff Fontoura also announced that Foreclosure Sales scheduled for Tuesday, January 27, 2015, are postponed until February 3rd.
 
Blizzard Tips: Cars and Driving

Newark – Sheriff Armando Fontoura, coordinator of the Essex County Office of Emergency Management, today advised local motorists of the following Blizzard Tips for vehicles and driving under severe snow conditions: Cars & Driving PREPARATION • Have the radiator system serviced, or check the antifreeze level yourself. • Replace wiper fluid with a wintertime mixture. • Check the air pressure in tires. Replace worn tires. • Keep the gas tank nearly full to help avoid ice in the tank and fuel lines.

Infants: Bright red, cold skin, very low energy.
