Robbery Suspects Arrested

Newark – Within minutes of a robbery last evening at Riverbank Park, three male juvenile suspects were placed under arrest by Essex County sheriff’s officers and the proceeds of the robbery were recovered.

Township Hall, 66 Main Street

Mon-Wed 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.

 

West Orange Public Library, 46 Mt. Pleasant Avenue

Mon 10 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Tues 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Reward Offered in Millburn Home Invasion

Millburn – Law enforcement authorities today posted a cash reward for information that leads to the arrest of a suspect wanted in a brutal home invasion in Millburn.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura said the incident took place at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Friday (6/21/13) when the suspect broke into a Cypress Street home and violently attacked the female homeowner in front of her 3-year-old daughter.

Reward Offer in Assault Turned Deadly

Irvington – Law enforcement authorities today posted a cash reward offer for information that leads to the arrest of a suspect or suspects who assaulted a 70-year-old Roselle Park man who later died of his injuries.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura said that Robert Sabio died from blunt-force trauma following an assault by the driver and/or passengers of a vehicle that the victim’s car had bumped into at 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 on the 1300 block of Springfield Avenue in Irvington.

Sheriff Issues Warning About Mail Solicitaion

Newark – Sheriff Armando Fontoura today advised Essex County residents to be on the look-out for what may be a fraudulent fundraising letter issued by an organization listed as the United States Deputy Sheriffs’ Association which claims to be headquartered in Wilton, New Hampshire.

According to Sheriff Fontoura, the association alleges to be dedicated to officer survival training and it seeks donations to underwrite its programs. “This organization is not connected with any legitimate police, sheriff’s or public safety department as far as we can tell,” Fontoura observed.
