Irvington – Sheriff Armando Fontoura today announced a cash reward offer for information that leads to the arrest of Byron Stokely who is wanted by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Irvington Police Department on charges of aggravated assault, kidnapping and weapons charges.
Sheriff Fontoura said the Crimestoppers program would pay up to $2,500 for details of Stokely’s whereabouts.
On March 29, 2013, Stokely is alleged to have thrown a pot of boiling water, mixed with oil, on his ex-wife while she was asleep in her home.The victim was severely burned.

Newark – A city man was arraigned today on multiple drug charges following his arrest yesterday afternoon by EssexCounty sheriff’s detectives.
Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that as part of an on-going investigation detectives from his department’s Bureau of Narcotics executed a search warrant for the second floor apartment at 303 Sherman Avenue.
Fontoura said the sheriff’s detectives established a surveillance operation at that location early on Monday afternoon and observed the target of the investigation, William “Cool Will” Torres, age 46, exit his residence.
Newark – Within seconds of the theft of valuable diamond-studded gold chains from a Market Street jewelry store, one of the two suspects was placed under arrest by EssexCounty sheriff’s officers and the chains were recovered.
Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that officers were on patrol in downtown Newark late this afternoon when they were flagged down by the owner of Brick City Gold, located at 104 Market Street.The owner advised the sheriff’s officers that two men had entered the jewelry store and fled with two chains which he valued at $18,000.
Newark – A male suspect was arraigned today on drug charges following his arrest yesterday afternoon by EssexCounty sheriff’s officers.
Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that as part of an on-going drug investigation in the city’s North Ward detectives from his department’s Bureau of Narcotics executed a search warrant for apartment #5 at 131 Grafton Avenue early on Wednesday afternoon.
Upon entering the apartment, the tenant, Jerome Simmons, age 55, along with two females, were detained while the residence was searched.
