Orange Man Arrested for Guns and Drugs PDF Print E-mail

Newark – A male suspect was arraigned today on drug and weapons charges following his arrest by Essex County sheriff’s detectives and Orange police officers.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that as part of an on-going investigation the officers in the joint operation executed a search warrant for the residence of Darienne Murray, age 23, at 78 William Street in Orange early on Wednesday evening.

Fontoura said the Bureau of Narcotics detectives and Orange police discovered and seized a fully loaded, 9mm, semi-automatic Browning handgun, 16 grams of “crack” cocaine and drug processing and packaging paraphernalia from underneath the burners of the kitchen stove.

The sheriff added that a fully loaded, .32 caliber, Arminius revolver and an additional 24 vials of “crack” cocaine was discovered in a shoebox under Murray’s bed.

The suspect was charged with two counts of the unlawful possession of a weapon and one count each of possession of a weapon while committing a drug offense, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of CDS with intent to distribute and possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 500 feet of William Street Park.

At today’s arraignment, Judge Richard Nunez ordered Murray held at the Essex County Correction Facility in lieu of $200,000 cash bond only.
