Rewards Offered in 2 Newark Homicides PDF Print E-mail

NewarkEssex County law enforcement authorities today posted a cash reward offers for information surrounding the shooting murders of two Newark man in separate incidents.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that the Crimestoppers program would pay up to $5,000 in each case for details that lead to the arrest of the suspect wanted in the shooting death of 23-year-old Daniel “Beans” Mejia of Newark whose lifeless body was discovered at 5:00 a.m. on January 4, 2011 in a parking lot, located at 2 Honiss Street.

Fontoura said the Mejia was last seen in the area of 654 North 7th Street in Newark in the early morning hours of January 4th.

The sheriff said the reward offer also applies to an earlier homicide which occurred at 5:00 p.m. on April 15, 2010. At that time, Kauri Campbell, age 35 of Newark, was shot to death outside of 91 Willoughby Street
