Reward Offered in Shooting Death of Barron Weir PDF Print E-mail

Newark – Law enforcement authorities today posted a cash reward offer for details that lead to the arrest of the suspect or suspects wanted in the September 2010 shooting death of a South Orange man in the Vailsburg section of Newark.

 

Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that the Crimestoppers program would pay up to $5,000 for information surrounding the murder of Barron M. Weir, age 27, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and torso on September 21, 2010 at 8:30 p.m. The homicide occurred on Salem Street near the intersection of South Orange Avenue.

Sheriff Fontoura described the victim as a graduate of Columbia High School in Maplewood who had achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Hampton University in Virginia.

“By all accounts, Mr. Weir was an extremely kind and generous individual who had until the time of his death worked as a summer counselor at a local day care center,” Fontoura noted.
