Reward Offer in Newark Homicide Case PDF Print E-mail

Newark – Law enforcement authorities today posted a cash reward offer for information that leads to an arrest in the shooting death of a city man.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that the Crimestoppers program will pay up to $5,000 for details surrounding the murder of Kendal Spear, age 20, who was gunned down in the vicinity of 35 Harding Terrace shortly after 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 15, 2012.

The sheriff added that the victim’s parents had hosted a block party for their immediate neighbors hours earlier. During the evening, a physical altercation ensued between Harding Terrace residents and people who had crashed the neighborhood party. At some point during the altercation, shots rang out and Spear was fatally wounded.
