Newark - Two male and one female suspects were arraigned today on drug charges following their arrests on Friday by Essex County sheriff's detectives. Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that detectives from his department's Bureau of Narcotics and Tactical Response Team conducted a pre-dawn raid and executed a search warrant on a suspected drug stash, located at 410 Summer Avenue in the city's North Ward. The raid was the result of a two-week investigation by sheriff's detectives which was prompted by numerous neighborhood complaints of narcotics trafficking in the area. As the BON detectives secured the perimeter of the three story residence, TRT detectives made a forced entry into the building. Inside the residence, the first person the sheriff's detectives encountered was Ricardo Martinez, age 53. A records check revealed that Martinez was wanted on an open criminal Essex County Superior Court warrant for aggravated assault with a weapon. Martinez was immediately placed under arrest. Sheriff Fontoura said that the BON and TRT detectives located Augustine "Mexico" Cabrera, age 31, and Eliza Cruz, age 42, in a second story bedroom. During the search of their bedroom the sheriff's detectives discovered 43 clear plastic vials, containing 'crack' cocaine, and one glassine envelop, containing heroin, in a dresser drawer. Simultaneously, Hector Manuel "Chino" Molina Pagan was located in a third floor bedroom. The sheriff's detectives discovered 77 clear plastic vials of 'crack' cocaine and 8 heroin-filled envelops hidden in one of Molina Pagan's shoes. Cabrera, Cruz and Molina Pagan were all placed under arrest. Also, located and arrested at the residence were Irsaddis Rios, age 29 of East Orange, who was found to be the subject of open warrants issued by the Newark and Belleville municipal courts and Hugo Lopez, age 52 of Newark, who was found to be the subject of an open warrant issued by the Jersey City municipal court. Cabrera, Cruz and Molina Pagan were each charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of CDS with intent to distribute, possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 1000 feet of the Arlington Avenue/Ridge Street School Annex and possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 500 feet of Mt. Prospect Park. Cabrera and Cruz were also charged with conspiracy to violate New Jersey's narcotics law. At today's arraignment, Judge Marilyn Williams set bail on Cabrera and Cruz at $40,000 cash bond only and on Pagan Molina at $50,000 cash bond only. Martinez and Rios were also lodged at the Essex County jail on their prior open warrants while Lopez was released on his own recognizance as per Jersey City police.
