Defiant Trespass Summonses Issued at Old Hospital Center

Cedar Grove – An adult male and two male juveniles were arrested early Sunday morning at the abandoned Essex County hospital center on Fairview Avenue.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that the perpetrators were heard making noise inside Building #5 at 125 Fairview Avenue by Patrol Division officers on a routine inspection tour of the facility.

NewarkEssex County law enforcement authorities today posted a cash reward for the 2009 murder of an Irvington woman in Newark.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that the Essex County Crimestoppers and the Newark Police Crimestoppers programs have offered up to $7,500 for details leading to the arrest of the suspect wanted in connection with the shooting death of Rita Young -Flythe shortly before 9:00 p.m. on October 7, 2009. The incident occurred outside of 266 South Orange Avenue, near the Fairmount Avenue intersection.

Reward Offer: Hit and Run Homicide

Orange – Law enforcement authorities today reposted a cash reward offer for information about a vehicular homicide.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that the Crimestoppers program would pay up to $5,000 for details that lead to an arrest in the October 5, 2006 hit-and-run death of Carey Suitt. Suitt was struck and killed by a black 2005 GMC Envoy as he walked near the intersection of Freeway Drive East and South Center Street at 11:00 p.m. on the date of the incident.

Montclair Pipe Bomb Safely Dentonated by Sheriff's Bomb Squad

Montclair – Officers from the Essex County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad today responded to an Aubrrey Road residence and safely detonated a pipe bomb that was packed with explosives.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that the incident unfolded at 6:30 a.m. when the homeowner backed his car out of the driveway and noticed the explosive device on the ground.
