Weapons & Drug Charges Filed Against Newark Woman PDF Print E-mail
Newark – Essex County sheriff’s detectives yesterday executed a search warrant at a city residence and filed weapons and drug charges against a Newark woman.
Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that as a result of an on-going investigation officers from the Bureau of Narcotics obtained a search warrant from Superior Court Judge Jerome St. John for apartment 2 at 78 Boylan Street, the residence of Rolanda Yarborough, age 46.
The sheriff said that upon entering the apartment Yarborough tossed a magnetic key holder under a bed. The key holder contained 5.6 grams of cocaine. During the search of the premises the BON detectives also discovered a fully loaded, .22 caliber, lever action Henry rifle and a fully loaded, pump action, 12 gauge, Mossberg shotgun.

The suspect was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of CDS with intent to distribute, possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 1000 feet of Alexander Street School and two counts each of the unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon while committing a CDS crime. 

Last night, Newark municipal court Judge Vanessa Williams – Powell ordered Yarborough to he held at the Essex County Correctional Facility on $75,000 cash bond. Yarborough is scheduled to be arraigned on the drug and weapons charges on Thursday in criminal Central Judicial Processing court.
