 Newark – Three alleged drug dealers and a suspected buyer were arrested by Essex County sheriff’s detectives over the weekend and multiple narcotic charges were filed against them.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that officers from his department’s Bureau of Narcotics conducted plainclothes operations today and on Thursday at the intersections on Clinton and Seymour avenues and at Clinton Place and Irvington Avenue during the past few days.

“On Sunday morning, our detectives observed Darius Hall, 26, of Newark, loitering on Clinton Avenue when he was approached and engaged in conversation by Durron Brooks, 50, of Irvington,” Sheriff Fontoura said.  “When Brooks exchanged cash for items in Hall’s pocket our officers moved in to further investigate.”

Brooks was found to be in possession of two vials of ‘crack’ cocaine and Hall was found to be holding an additional 80 vials of ‘crack’, 33 heroin-filled envelopes, stamped ‘GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS’ in red ink, and $55 in alleged drug proceeds.

On Thursday, the Sheriff’s detectives staked out Clinton Place and Irvington Avenue.

“Here, Demetrius Love, 40, of East Orange, was observed loitering in the area, he was soon joined by Shyrone Carter, 26, of Newark,” Fontoura noted.  “Love and Carter were found to be in possession of 39 decks of heroin and 31 vials of ‘crack’ cocaine,” Fontoura added.

Hall, Love, and Carter were remanded to the county jail where they await bail hearings on the charges.  Brooks was issued a summons and will appear for arraignment at a later date.
